School Is Back - Crazy Time Is Over

The classrooms are all put together, teachers are well rested and the kids ready to get back to their friends. While it was nice having the girls home, I have to admit that it nice to have our schedule back on task.

My children work better when they have homework, their sport or extra activity and structured fun time. Long breaks don't work well for us. The girls packed their bags and picked out their clothes all the night before. Come this morning they were up early and wanting to get to school already. At least that tells me they enjoy being there.

As a parent I want my children to feel right at home. I opted out of full time home school so that they could have that time away and learn for themselves in real life situation. Mommy can't always be there.

So to say the least first day back after just over 2 weeks went well. Home work done as well as reading. Kids are getting for bed and looking forward for story time.

It's Christmas Eve, a time to celebrate. In my household we are baking cookies, wrapping last second gifts, planning which movies we will watch and looking forward to putting out cookies for Santa. That sounds wonderful, doesn't it? Christmas Eve has a little bit more of a meaning for me. My nephew Klassic was born on 12/24 and passed away 9/2010. We celebrate his birthday and his short lived life.

His passing taught me something, that i am reminded of each and every time I think of him. Christmas is not about how many presents you receive or even give. It's not about if you have a belief in Jesus or if you don't. It's simply about being gracious and thankful.

In our home we celebrate this as a day of giving, life, and love. This is a day for all Nations to celebrate the birth of Jesus, and even though we might not all agree on the day of his birth, its nice to have one day we all can celebrate it TOGETHER. It's a time for families to take off of work, gather together and enjoy one another. Remember this today, life is short and enjoy each day as it is given to you. He decides the length of our life's but we can decided the quality. Show a little more love, kindness and compassion to one another. Care enough to smile, and laugh enough to enjoy!

Get to the post office and mail everything off!!!
After today you should not have to worry about mailing
a thing. On the 10th you got everything ready
to go, so now you can make one trip.

Try to hit the Post Office early.
The later it gets the more you will have to deal with
last min senders and packers.
If you can go a day or so before or even on the 10th !

If using a mailing service you can call and schedule a pick up.

Bonus Tip
Start saving addresses, left over cards, mailing labels
and any other things you may need for holiday mailing
in your Christmas Binder.
Makes next year mailing easier.

Thankful From Little Eyes

There are many things in life that I am thankful for. Of course my children, my family, those who make me feel special, friends and those whom make a difference each day in my life. My home, being able to parent freely and so many other things are on that list too. This past Thanksgiving I asked the kids to share what they were thankful for. It is so refreshing to hear what children find important in life. It makes you think, are we looking at things the wrong way.

A few days before Thanksgiving we made Thankful Turkeys. They each wrote what they were thankful for. This is where I got the idea to ask on Thanksgiving what they were thankful for and why. Even though I did this to give them a chance to be heard while at a large family get together, it turned into something that we could all learn from.

April- "I'm thankful for my house, our food and all the toys. I am thankful for my family and all my friends. I am thankful for my pet. I am just thankful for everything I have. I am thankful for the bible and for my grandparents. I am thankful for Thanksgiving!"

Havanna- "I am thankful for the people who are always kind. I am thankful for the people in my life. I am thankful for rainbows and for the sun. I am thankful for God. I am thankful for Thanksgiving."

Tatiana- " I am thankful for candy. And more candy and some more candy. I am thankful for my daddy and for all the things he does. I am thankful."

Cristofer- " I am thankful for watching Thomas. Thank you for daddy fixing my car. I thank for food."

When I asked my children this very direct question, I wasn't sure any of them could really grasp it. But i was more then surprised that even my youngest understood that thanks was more then just a nice word. We always hope the manners we teach our children are not just heard but applied. That they will carry them with them as adults. Sometimes they may not listen or even get out of control. But it is these moments that they show you that they are thankful.

I am thankful for knowing that my children have such a touching heart. That they are honest and say what they truly mean. I am thankful!!

As a mom, I know how hard it is to sometimes remember yourself. It is very easy to lose your self in family and in your children. I wanted to take a few moments to have a few mommy bloggers tell you what it is to be a mom from their point of view. I follow many blogs and read them often but there are two that I always check into read. These are two strong moms. Both up lifting moms. Get to know them.

As for me being a mom is simply:
Loving beyond means, laughing even when at my worst, smiling because of today and looking forward to being a mom tomorrow. Taking a moment to remember to breathe and to shower :). Being a mom is a blessing and is an everyday job with out breaks. No mother takes this as a job but more of a heart dream. To love, teach and give. I am one of those mothers.

Tell me a little bit about what it is to be a mom in your world?
Being a mom for me means a full time 24/7 job without financial compensation. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, homework help, referee, taxi, therapist, and more for free... unless, like myself, you count watching your children grow and become happy, successful citizens of the world as payment.

What are the first thing you do in the morning before your day gets started?
I lie in bed each morning checking emails, facebook and twitter. Once I manage to get out of bed, my day has already started although there is always time for coffee!

As a mom how do you deal with the difficult questions your child brings to you?
I try to maintain a balance of honesty and innocence. I prefer to not sugar coat issues in life so that my children know to expect the truth from me, but I try to do this with tact while allowing them to still be kids and maintain that precious childhood which fades too quickly anyway.

Do you make time for your special someone? If so how and how often?
I always make time for my husband. We spend every single evening alone together after the kids are asleep, usually watching TV and hanging out. We also have occasional just the 2 of us dinners at home where we eat a special meal without the children and of course, we are lucky enough to have family members who babysit to allow us date nights out as well.

What are some of the things you miss or feel you can't do now that your a mommy?
I miss sleeping in, I miss more frequent vacations and I also miss time alone, which is so rare now. Even though I miss those things, being a mommy still makes it more than worth it.

What are you interest?
I love to blog and enter giveaways to win items for my children, family, and friends. My blog has turned into my passion and it generates extra income for our home. I also love to shop, watch football & cheesy reality TV and read

At the end of the day, what steps do you take to wind down and wind your family down?
My children are on a great schedule so winding down isn't really a problem. They're used to their daily routine. I wind down with herbs after the children are asleep and just enjoy the absence of noise.

Lastly

As a mom what do you think is the moat important thing you have done besides bring your beautiful children in this world?
I feel each and every day is important. You never know what tomorrow may bring and raising a child doesn't happen in one day, or at birth, it's the entire experience and combination of events over time that comes together to create an outstanding adult.

Yes. Have to. Hubby works all day then comes home and puts on his dad hat, while I take a little break. So after Lj goes to bed we spend time together, talk, watch shows and just relax. at least twice a month we have date nights. we go to dinner and see a movie.

I honestly don't miss anything about my life before becoming a mom. I am still capable of doings the things I did before becoming a mom. I've managed to balance it all. At times its not as easy, but I find a way. And I enjoy being home with my family.

I love mani, pedis & massages. So every two weeks I go get a mani/pedi. And whenever I can get a massage I do. I also enjoy reading. Spending time with family. Traveling.

7. At the end of the day, what steps do you take to wind down and wind your family down ?
I don't wind down till Lj is sleeping. So I make dinner, we eat, I bathe Lj, read him a few books then tuck him in. I then head to the couch and put my feet up!

be there for him. never letting him feel i am not there or understand him. validating him and his feelings. teaching him things, helping him learn and grow. LOVING him.

Christmas is suppose to be all about family and a wonderful time spent together. Some how, some way we all tend to get really busy, forgetful and cranky in the season for giving. So let make it a little less stressful.

For me, Christmas planning starts the day after Christmas.
The way that I make my Christmas less stressful starts with how
i pack away my decorations, where I organize
addresses and names for next years cards and
what sales I hit up for the after
Xmas sales.

It's Nice to Be a Champion

WE WON!!!

I was asked to come play on a new team with two of my closet friends.
They are basically family, so how could i say no.
I was worried, just coming off of a undefeated team,
if I even wanted to play or not play with the team I was on.
But it was time with good people and a chance
to keep moving and not feel so old!

First game we didn't do so good!!!
Just a placement game though.
We had an undefeated season and one tie (not a loss)
which was perfect.
then i found out we actually play for a trophy!!

First game was rocky but we all pulled together as a team and
kicked but. Came back from a 13-4 loss and won by 1.
Final score 14-13!!

Second game was way more fun!
It was a tough game to.
We had a team fighting their hardest to win...
Final score 11-8 I believe.

Fun times.
Great people!
Happy to be a Champ!!

Sunday Love - With Sports Become Friendships

Soccer has become one of the main sources for our children to make
friends. The families of which our team is made up
of are wonderfully fun and trustworthy.

Yesterday at Aprils' game I was talking to one of the moms
about how important i thought it would be for the girls to get together
and do fun things outside of soccer.
Friendship and trust is important to grow between
the girls and the families.

Some of Aprils' closes friends
are apart of her soccer team.
We celebrate together, party together,
hang out together.

I love the family feel of the team. I look forward to the friendships
my children will build and the ones that will
expand for us parents!!

Fast, Cheap and Easy - Homemade Chili

When ever I make this chili everyone asks for the recipe.
Even though it is my recipe I am always willing to share.
On average this meal cost under $5 bucks to cook.
Today I doubled the recipe because I knew
I would need leftovers for football Sunday.
I will give the original 8 serving recipe at the end of the post.

Photos of prep :

First i brown the meat. This you can do any
way you see fit and can use any meat you like.
My family loves garlic so it was seasoned while
browning with tons of garlic. I do not drain my
meat because we like the garlic grease in the chili.
I do recommend draining before putting in your crock-pot.

I don't believe in finely chopped when it
comes to chili. I give a rough chop of all the
veggies and set them aside until I add the with everything else.

Everything and the kitchen sink....
really though its what it seems like when
you add it to your crock-pot.

Seasoning (our favorite) is added plus a
little for taste once in the crock-pot.

I make a little whole in the middle of the
meat so that i have a little extra room for
the rest of the yumminess to be added.

Let it simmer for about 4 hours in the
crock-pot then serve with corn bread. YUM!

Recipe:
1 lb browned ground beef
2 tbs chili powder
1 tbs ground cumin
1 small sweet yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 can (drained) kettle corn
1 can black beans
1 can ranch style beans
1 can stewed tomatoes
*cook in crock-pot for 4 hours on high serve with corn bread.

As They Grow- I Grow

Watching my kids grow up is fascinating. Seeing all the funny, silly and not so cute things they do makes it all worth it. There have been those days when i have lost sleep, couldn't eat and just straight out felt like I couldn't breathe. Every mom has those days. Some can own up to them some push them under the rug. Yes, I have wished Ebay would let me sell them :).

Even on those days, I simply look at my children. Each different in their own right and fall in love. I remember why its not worth getting mad, or raising my voice. I remember why I love getting dirty and rolling on the ground with them. I remember those moments when my kids say, "your the best mommy ever!".

April is now a little lady with the most dorkiest personality you will ever see. This year she lucked out and found her self a great teach who lets her express herself and have some freedom when it comes to who she wants to be. April is a friend maker. She is sweet and out going. Everyone loves to have April around. She works hard at school, setting her own goals and fighting hard to stick to them. This year besides her straight A's and E's she wants perfect attendance and citizenship awards. April is rocking it out on her soccer team. What a great group of girls!! She is my oldest but is my baby. Those moments we get to cuddle in total peace is healing to my soul!!

Havanna now 6. Wow where did the time go!?! She is such a loving big personality type of kid. She is naturally a goof ball and enjoys making everyone around her laugh. Havanna, now in school, enjoys learning and making her very own friends. She is awesomely great at telling a joke. She will be a star one day. Havanna will be starting gymnastics soon. Something she is already so good at. She has a kind heart and is always looking to make you a friend. She is very in to God wanting to teach everyone she can about Him. Havanna loves to eat even though we have yet to figure out where she puts it all. A running joke with close family friends is how hungry she always is. Havanna is amazing and she makes me remember what true silliness is all about. She causes me to smile even when at the moment i don't think its possible.
Tatiana my 3 1/2 year old who is my mini me. If ever a child could remind me so much of me it would be her. Tatiana is a sweet child but you must now she is a tough cookie. She is a loving little girl who can be a rough and tumbled kind of kid with the best of them. She is always wanting her "apple pie" that her grandpa George got her addicted to. Tatiana is a smart little girl waiting for her turn to got to school. She is my music child. Tatiana can listen to a song once and know the words. She loves to sing and dance and enjoys the good fun times in her day. Tatiana has brought to light the need to stop and enjoy the small moments in my day. She is a fighter but most of all a lover.
Cristofer is my baby. 2 1/2 now hes getting big. HE is mommys little football player. My son has become a master of getting away with things. He is my only child who has ever repeated things he shouldn't and made us laugh before correcting his naughty behavior. Cristofer is a fighter by all means. With 3 big sisters could you expect anything less. He is the child who reminds me everyday that a hug is all it takes. He makes me smile and encourages me to stay grounded. Just when i thought i had the parenting thing figured out, he comes along and switches up the game. Cristofer is shy and reserved but once he knows you he will talk you ear off. He is a welcome addition to my heart and his smile warms my day!!

My family is my family, with every mishap and happy moment and everything in between. I love watching my kids grow and learning about them everyday. Seeing who they are becoming and watching the chocies they make. Being a mom is way more then what i thought it would be. I may have lost my self somewhere in the mix but i find my self daily in each one of them. The are my sanity, they are my heart. With each beat of theirs there is a beat of mine. I am a blessed woman and i am learning to take a look each at each day and smile. The picture is pretty neat when i slow down enough to watch it.

Right Up His Alley

My Father has started to be really involved with his church.
This puts a smile on my face. The fellowship
brings to him his own sets of friends out here in Vegas.
Something we weren't sure he would have once moving here.
It's beyond perfect to see how much he
has grown since being here.

My father is a closed private person,
and seeing him open up and share
so much with his new friends is outstanding!!
I am now able to watch him enjoy one of his passions.
I remember as a little girl hearing
stories of when he use to play
the congas. How he would drum a beat on the table.
Seeing it first hand now is amazing.
The talent he holds.

Having Fun Going Back in Time

My oldest April has been watching me get dolled up lately. Every time she ask the same question, " mom will you do me up like a 50's girl to?" so this past week I did. We were going out to dinner and I was already as she calls it "dolled up" and taking a few extra mins to make her smile was right up my alley!!

I think it's fun that she is interested in the same things I am. I had fun doing her hair. I think she has the perfect look to pull it off.

Then there was my buddy who had a wedding renewal and it was right up my alley. It was a rockabilly themed wedding and I was asked to do the brides hair and makeup.

All my birthday girl wanted was a day in Bikini Bottom.
Family, friends and school mates all came to celebrate Havanna.
With yummy krabby Patties and spatula relay race,
fun was to be had.
We danced to A Tooty Ta and
enjoyed each others company.

After a all night unsuccessful baking mishap,
i went out and got cupcakes for the kids.
I was given an awesome idea by a special person to make the characters
out of different flavors. SpongeBob being the favorite of the party.
Havanna absolutely loved her cake!
The kids got a sugar high from the cupcakes, the over-sized
pinjata of SpongeBob (not pictured) and the goodie bags.

It was nice to open the book and read stories from real moms that I could relate to. I like the simplistic questions they gave to ask yourself. They were less questioning your parenting but more of a helpful tool. My favorite part of this book is that it is more of a confidence builder then a this is how you should be book. To often someone or some book tells you your doing everything wrong, Momsense is more of a helpful tool to go along with what you are already doing.

One of the best parts of this book is that it is mainly from moms. There are also comments and advise from experts on such topics such as; Sleep Deprivation, Faith, Leadership and Co-Parenting. I found it to be well written and helpful. This is a great book for any mom of any age to read and feel comfortable that its not questioning her parenting skills and that every so often a little recap/common-sense lesson is needed!!

The Review

Once Country Dance 2 hit my door, the kids were overly excited to get started on playing. Video games is a reward in our home and because progress reports were excellent the girls got to dance there free time away. I played Country Dance 2 first while they watched so i could explain how things worked. I found that there was not that much needed to be explained. Country Dance 2 is very family friendly in the since that everyone from Cristofer (2) to April (7) could play with ease. Of course the scores varied depending how on point you were with matching the moves. My oldest two enjoyed bouncing and dancing around and giggling at each other.

Country Dance 2 is also a great work out game. After four songs of moving and dancing i broke a nice little sweat and worked out some muscles i am not sure have seen the day of light in a while :) .. the hubs got a kick out of my line dancing and even my father who is 67 joined in on the fun. The best thing about Country Dance 2 is that you do not need a controller to join in. So while it may be up to 4 players, a whole room could join in making this a great group game. I enjoyed the laughter and fun Country Dance 2 brought to our family time.

Happy Birthday Havanna

Today my baby turns 6. Havanna woke up extra early so we could watch the sunny side up show where they wished her a happy birthday too. She got a few special emails and of course birthday love from mommy. Havanna got to dress up in her special outfit thanks to her ms. Jacky who got it for her and was excited to get to school !

Baking Turned Math

Tonight we are baking for Havanna's mini class party. With a yummy special flavor picked out, I thought it would be fun to turn it into a math activity. Teaching the girls measurements as the mix the ingredients. The difference between a 1 cup and a 1/4 of a cup and why a certain amount of one ingredient is needed.

Making even sized cupcakes can be easy. Some use an ice cream scoop but I used a tbs and scooped in 2 tbs into each cup. If you go past half point you run the risk of the cupcakes not fully cooking.

The icing was the fun part. Another yummy request, with a little yellow added to it. You can use a ziplock back with the tip cut off, but because I bake often I have a pipping bag. Start from the center and work your way out for a flat design or from the edge to center for a more fluffy design.

Tomorrow will be fun watching my little monkey enjoy being 6 with her friends.

With a birthday fast approaching, the planning is non stop. My sanity sucker wants sponge bob ... : / ya i am not a fan. This is her first big party she gets to choose, so i am all for what ever makes her smile. Homemade is the way we are going. Once again the cake/cupcakes will be made at home plus all the goody bags. We will have games like the spatula run and the crabby paddy race...

November - A Month of Yum

Its that time of year when we are looking forward to yummy food, time with family and
Black Friday. I have already started getting things together for Thanksgiving.
We will be spending it with family and i will be helping them cook there.
Yes !! That means Thanksgiving is a whole lot easier on me this year.

This November we will be making a well needed trip back to California. Seeing special people,
enjoying the holiday and shopping for deals.
The kids and I will be making different projects to take with us. To help decorate for
grandpa Nando's birthday.

This month take the time to remember family. To remember what you are thankful for
and all those who make a difference in your life.
Take a little time to make a difference yourself. To do something selfless for
someone in need.

This month there is no 3in30 even though i said i would bring it back.

Sunday Lesson on Saturday

Our little ones do not feel to well. With the weather
the way that it is and how they are feeling we are skipping
church today but doing a lesson at home.
I thought it important to share the lesson we came up with.
(with help from different online sources)

Today's lessons is to trust in God and to not be jealous.
We will be watching a VeggieTales movie along side the
passages we will be using.
Cute movie and helps get the point across.

If you would like to join in on the lesson with us,
here is what we will be talking about as a family.
But first a little silly song from the movie:

Reading before questions and movie: (NLT)
Josh 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who^[a] have been called according to his purpose."

Questions to ask to help describe the issue to young children:
1. What does it mean to be jealous?
2. How does it hurt others?
3.Have you ever been jealous of someone?
4. How did it feel to be jealous? (this helps them to see that it doesn't feel good)

Share a kid friendly story of when you have been jealous and how it made you feel.

Watch the movie with your kids or even look up the readable story on line. Its an awesome lesson.

October - A Fun Month Ahead

Its my favorite time of year!! This year we plan on
having tons of fun!! This month i will not have goals
set and i will not take part in the 3in30
(i will jump right back in next month)
but do have a few things planned.

This month we will have a movie marathon
watching some of my favorites and some of the kids.
Popcorn and yummies all month long.
Getting homework done fast to enjoy
with projects and crafts and fun lessons
to share at school with all of the girls friends.
With field trips and custom making fun.
Class parties and maybe even a little
Halloween party here at the house.

But Most of all the whole house is looking forward
to a fun night of trick-a-treating!!
Nothing like dressing up for a day
and being anything you would like to be.

My Weight Loss - This Month

This is something i was going to set month per month.
A way of getting healthy with out going crazy over it all.
It is way harder then i thought and way
more time is needed to put in.

I didn't put much effort in this month.
Something i will be changing this coming month.
I did not hit my 10 pound goal.
BUT THAT'S OK !!!

October is a new month and i am looking forward
to getting into shape.
I will be playing softball, walking and even
doing 30 min work outs
in my home.

National Grandparents Day

In loving memory to everyone who was lost on 9/11 I celebrate you with teaching love!

Our family is very blessed to have 3 grandparents for our 4 children.

The hubs parents, Grandma Silvia and Grandpa Fernando ( grandpa Nando) are awesome! They make that 5 hour sometimes even longer drive from Los Angeles Cali. often to spend time with their grandchildren. Grandma teaches the girls how to cook, interacts with them with fun songs and games and always has a new and interesting educational gift for them each time she comes. I accredit her for some of the smarts my kids have :) !! Grandpa Nando is my kids favorite Mr. Itchy face. April can remember all the way back to 1 when she use to take nightly walks with him. Its still a favorite to this day, with all the children wanting their walking time with grandpa. Grandpa even does tea parties!! He's always full of fun and love spoiling his grand kids with love all the time.

Then there is Grandpa George, my father whom my hubs affectionately calls pops, that has moved out here for his retirement to be closer to his grand kids. My father has almost a dozen grand kids in between my brothers kids and mine. He will roll on the floor, help you feed ducks, play cars and even changes diapers. He loves these kids as though they were his own. It is a true blessing to have him here to help raise our children. The things he teaches them are invaluable!

The Review:

I was asked to give my opinion on Farm Rich this month and received a voucher to receive a product of my choice to give to my family. This voucher was easy to use and looks just like a manufacturers coupon. I knew my family would love to have something yummy to eat this past Sunday while the guys watched games and the kids enjoyed a movie marathon of Veggie Tales. With many different yummy snacks and appetizers to choose from we narrowed it down to a family favorite. The guys chose Cheese Sticks to have with there game day lunch.

My 3in30 So Far

Well this is where i am at so far. I have lost just
over 1 lb this week. Not what i wanted but a start.
To be honest i didn't really try to hard. So i know
that i will have to step it up a little. I even posted about it here.
Even though this is not a direct 3in30 goal
it is one of my September goals and i wanted to share it with you.

I have worked on my other blogs. Most of it though has been
cleaning up post that i never posted and setting up future post.
I did post one new blog post on my frugal blog
Frugal In Sin City
It still needs a lot of work.

SLEEP!!! I have actually been sleeping more
then i usually do. Only one night i stayed
up for what seemed like for ever but every other
night i ave gotten at least 7 hours of sleep.
This is a big accomplishment for me.

My time just for little old me. Well i haven't gotten a lot of that.
I am trying but i think that is the hardest goal yet!

Labo Day - More Then Just A Day Off From School

So I had no clue on how to teach or celebrate Labor Day with my family beyond traditional BBQ and salute to the flag. This year I waned to do something different. I wanted to teach the children something about what makes this country so grand. I took the time to do a little research and this is what I found.

The definition of Labor Day Wikipedia - interesting to say the least and i learned a few things myself. Look forward to turning it into a lesson for today for my children.

The History Of Labor Day U.S. DOL -" a street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" of the community " Something i have never read before and found interesting when i read it on his article.

Ho-hum... I find myself unsettled and not focused. I spend a lot of time tediously planning life in my head and it all sounds -mastorious- (my word for master-mind) but my worry and guilt over take my potential.

Back to the basics! (my rule of thumb when I can't form complete sentences or sense). I often think about " if God were to come today is my life and home in order", um no! NOT SO MUCH. Am I depending praying and putting my faith in God? um not so much!

Well go figure no wonder I am a basket case. Truth is I have to stop focusing on "I" and get back to serving others and my God and maybe I won't feel so much anxiety.

I often think I would survive so much easier in a monotonous environment. I like the idea of predictable. Yet I am lucky enough to be different and I am needing to explore the power within me. I heard some women talking in church one day about wanting to be perfect at everything. As women I think all of us strive to work miracles in every aspect of life. When really we are given gifts and strengths different from the next. I am still in my beginning stages of understanding those gifts. I am still searching for my opportunity to give back to society.

I truly believe we have to put our faith in God. I have had the opportunity to be led by him with my faith firm. I can never forget my cries of thanks and my power to understand his hand in my life. I recently experienced hardship and found myself slowly losing faith and direction. I have been able to regain my strength and my feisty personality and I am ready to apply that to the Lord's work.

"Come what may and love it". The way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy we can be in life. I am so grateful for the challenges I have faced and the strength I gained to overcome. I am grateful for the opportunity I have 2 raise 2 beautiful young men. As I raise them I see the power and love of God. What an amazing gift and I often know God chose them especially for me. I am loved by God and I am determined to fulfill his will for me.

50's Housewife -Tis the Holiday Season

I haven't gone far, just went missing :). Its nice to get back into the swing of things and i was thinking about bring back this little challenge once again. I already live the life of a housewife and my what i think of a house wife still stands. I thought it would be fun to do this for the holiday season. I also thought it would be fun to ave guest bloggers post what they have done. It's all in fun and I enjoy the little extra challenge behind it all.

The holiday season in my house runs from Oct 1st to Jan 7th. This go around i will not set up specific post but instead will write about all the things i am doing. During this season i usually bake non stop, make homemade goodies for gifts, try new recipes, host parties and of course still run my home day to day and homeschool my children during school breaks.
I look forward to putting a little something extra in each task i do.

Look for the first of what i am sure will be many post starting soon :)

Working towards my - 10

So i am on a mission to lose 10 lbs this month.
2 lbs more then what is recommended,
but very do-able. I plan on walking 1-3 miles
everyday along side my daily running around and
house chores with the kids ( yup that all burns calories too ).
I also plan on using what i learned from a friend
of mine who is doing the new weight watchers.
I have my points and i plan on sticking to them.
This is by no means the way i plan to lose all the
weigh i want to but this is the way i
choose to go about this week.
One of my 3in30.

I have always been told that i look 30-40 lbs less
then what i actually am. I think its people just
being nice :) !! I do not have a number goal that
i am trying to achieve, because no matter what size
or weight i am i want to be happy with me.
This means at any size. I have a favorite pair of
jeans that i would love to get back into so that is my goal.
When you stick to losing numbers you tend to never be happy.
Always hoping for 5 more. My pants will do. Its the getting
healthy part that matters to me :).

Thoughtful Thursday

Today i went with my father and youngest two to go pick up Havanna. I knew she would be happy to see her grandpa there to pick her up. When i seen them get closer to the car, she flew from grandpas hand and ran to give me a hug.Its so funny how much the little ones can miss you when given the chance to. When we got home i asked her why was it that she missed me so much and she told me about the kissing hand story she has been reading. When i seen how she was visually telling me i had her do it a second time so that i could take a picture of just how cute she really is. This is what my monkey looks like when she is being beyond sweet. She was explaining where you place the kiss so when i miss her all i have to do is place my palm to my cheek and i would feel her love.

This is why i am a mom. These sanity sucking blessing are truly worth every minute of lost sleep, tired days, long nights, runny noses and all that other wonderful mommy stuff. I couldn't have it any other way!!

September 3in30 and Monthly Goals

This month, with the start of school, i will be
keeping my goals at a minimum. I will not put a
full plate in front of me :) i learned my
lesson from last month.

This month is going to be all about projects.
We will do at least one project a week every
Wednesday as a family.
That will equal 4 projects for this month

My goals for this month are:
1.projects with family
2.read two books a day with kids
3.blog at least 10 times this month
4.continue flying with Flylady
5. complete my 3in30 (look below)
6.loss 10 lbs this month
7.read four books of my own
8. devotional time and bible studies
9. a better priced menu for this month
10. laundry :/ ( keep it moving)

Brown the meat and add garlic to taste

Once browned drain grease

Fold in corn

Today i sent off two of my children to school. It was most different coming home and only having two to teach. While Havanna will only be gone 2 shorts hours, she isn't here. I am looking forward to teaching Tatiana and Cristofer one on one. It should be interesting to she how it goes.

Summer - Oh The Fun Things You Have Brought Us

This summer has been tons of fun. We have done so
many things from going to the park to having picnics.
We got to explore new places and try new foods.
We found our new church and have made
new friends. The best part was that we got to
help rebuild the school that my oldest two will
be attending.

Some of the places we visited will become family
favorites for sure. The sleep overs we have had
and the movie nights with pop corn will be forever
remembered. The pool parties and the
fact that April learned
to swim is the best part. Great fellowship
with good people can never be beat!!
Even though the summer was a blast
we are looking forward to the first day of school.

I have a good size planner because my goal is to
keep everything in one place. This makes it a lot
easier for me to get to the things i need
to use on a daily, weekly and monthly manner.
I intentionally plan every Sunday with one of my
closet friends, Kelly over at Finding Joy In Vegas.
The meaning of intentionally planning to me is
that i plan my day to day schedule to put God and
my family first in life. So i plan all
things around those two things.

There are millions, it just takes a little time

I am working on making my own.

The way i organized my binder was
by how i would use it most.
I put everything into piles on my table.
I put them into like categories.
Once i got through all the sections i knew i wanted
i then combined some of the.
I mean who wants a 20 million inch binder right?? :)
I put my binder together with the important not so personal
stuff first then went from there.
I knew i wanted my most personal towards the back.

Your sub dividers will differ from mine.
Put what you think goes well in each section.
For example i knew i wanted school in my
Kids section because it is about them.

everyday. In other sections i put things that were needed.

together with step by step directions on

Back to School Already ?? Are You Ready??

Its the season of back to school. Time seems to fly when you need it the most and these past few weeks it has just been like that. Right before school you take the time to get you supplies together, make sure you have all the clothes and shoes for the school year( because who would shop mid year right? :/ ) and even if you homeschool you still have all these responsibilities. I thought that i had it under control. I knew i had gone clothes shopping over the past year, my way of saving, and that i didnt need much. I knew that i had to reorganize the school area because homeschool would start the same as public school. I knew that i wanted to get my schedule together and have everything set to go. I Knew i wanted first day pictures and hugs. What i wasnt planning on was the time i would spend away from my home when i was suppose to be doing it. I put to much on one plate.

So moms during this hectic time, right before school...breathe. Remember to take a step back and enjoy these memories in the making. Enjoy that you have these to make. No need to stress because what happens happens and you can only try your best to do what you can. Make a plan, try to stick to and if you dont laugh about it.

This month I said i would make
a new dessert every night.
So far it has been fairly simple.
I had one birthday so far to bake for
and the cupcakes were a hit.

Soon i want to try recipes that i have
never tried before. I stayed safe this round only because
31 days of desserts seemed a little much to try all never
been eaten desserts. So during Christmas i will
try my hand a few that i have found.

This has been enjoyable and i am happy that i
have made this a goal his 3in30.

Menu Planning

I wanted to set a menu up for a whole month. This would make my shopping trips and cooking go a lot smoother. Also helping anyone who has to take over that task if i am not home that day. This month i wanted to switch up, so i grabbed ever dinner from one of these cooking resources. For the most part that means it will be something new for my family to try. I filled in our favorite breakfast and lunches and of course desserts (another 3in30 goal) to complete each day.

This will be an on going goal, that i will have to set time aside for each month. As of now i have two complete weeks with 3 meals and a dessert. I am still filling in the lunches for a few days and as well making my shopping list for the weeks to best us. I hope to make shopping a fun activity for me and my oldest two girls. I plan to make mini list for them to fill their own carts. If we set a goal we can accomplish it!

When menu planning, pick meals that your family will eat. When i plan i like to make meals i know my family will enjoy, that are price efficient, and easy to put together. I try to "make over" what ever left overs that i can for the next days lunch. If possible i also try to do the same for the next nights dinner. Not only a money saver but as well a time saver. Its a new month and school is right around the corner.
I am looking forward to ending our summer with a bang so
for August i have made some plans for our family.

Our family enjoys lots of fun times.
Summer is always a fun and interesting learning time
for me as a mom. Even though i am looking forward to the

Friendships & The Meaning

I have plenty of friendships, more so one sided. In life we tend to keep relationships around because we feel bad for walking away or because we pretend they are more then what they are. I am blessed to have many great friendship, people who take the time to want to know about my life as i do theirs. Then i have friendships that are more work then actual relationship. The ones i keep around because it is the nicer way of saying, "we just have nothing in common".

There are, in my opinion, 3 different friendships in life. 1. One that last forever through anything and is equal to one another. 2. The competing friendship that only seems prevalent when it is important to the other. For example when something is need or if that person needs to feel they are on a high horse. Someone who makes your relationship 70/30. Simply meaning you give more than they do. This is the most common friendship. I have one to many. 3. The people you keep around because you know them and you dont want to be rude. These friendships never go past a text or facebook message. These have no meaning and no heart break.

I often read things that at times i feel are written for me. Then there are times that i know they are and i could care less. At this point in my life, the friendships i have and tend to keep and actually work at to make something more than a sparse phone call or visit. I tend to allow friendships to be an unequal relationship. In a marriage you strive for honesty, equality and respect. You should do the same in your friendships.

I made a promise to myself that that i would only try with those who equally do as well. I have "friendships" that i only receive a phone call when they need something, or a visit that is centered on something being done for them. I have "friendships" that are online only, that i would never carry out in real life. I have "friendships" that are draining.

So as adults when do you take a stand and walk away from friendships that mean nothing to you? I told my best friend a long time ago the people i was over, and yet i still kept them in my life. Till this day i get short handed but i deal with it. For how much longer i am not sure.

The friendship i work at are awesome and make up for those that are just stuck in limbo. These friends care enough to know how my day or week is going, they ask about my children, call or /and send cards on birthdays, have picnics, dinners and date nights. They take the time to try not to make everything about them or a competition. My "friends" are like family. They are the ones i know i can count on. The ones who do not pass judgment and care enough to love.

A Lesson For Me In Being Frugal

*Tips N Tricks on shopping at a thrift store, saving while not getting frustrated.

After losing over 20 pounds, my pants are falling and my shirts are showing more then i would like. I have been teaching my three girls modesty and have not fully followed it my self. After talking to my hubs about the importance of me shopping for a few new items for myself, he quickly agreed and wanted to go with me. I, no matter the financial issues we may be facing (good or bad), dislike spending unneeded money on clothing. As a child it was fun to save money, as i got older it became shameful. I let go of my prideful nature and became proud of what i am able to do.

2After figuring out what i needed and what i wanted i made a mental note of what to look for. I figured that i would only need (3) 15 complete outfits to have a bountiful new wardrobe.I am average mom, wearing the average size. I tend to not like tight clothing because i find it uncomfortable to continuously readjust my clothing. So when i went to the store 4I looked in more then one size category. I like lengthy shirts that come to a certain part of my waist, which took me all the way up to two sizes bigger that what i wear. I wanted to stay young and fresh and look my age,which took me all the way one size smaller then my size (woohoo a medium!).

Stopping at two different 1thrift stores, i started in the smaller size and picked the shirts i liked. 5I wore a shirt that i love to layer with ( a have a few in different colors) under a tshirt. This made it easier to shop because i did not have to go to a fitting room. I looked for shirts that were long enough and loose enough. I also looked for things that i could pair with items i knew i was keeping. Items like these can be made into 6many different outfits. I did this all the way through two sizes above my actual size( to 2xl). I have learned clothing is cut different depending the brand and as well as fabric.

It was fun, i was blessed to share this time with my hubs and it felt nice treating myself. I know some people feel like they are to picky to shop second hand. I am as picky as they come and do just fine. It is a way of pride that usually stops most. Unless you shared with someone that you shopped second hand no one would know the difference. Enjoy the hunt and have fun with it.

1. Not a stuffy old person store. You can find trendy fun clothing at cheap prices. Almost new and def new to you. Great prices on many items. Shop coupon days.

2. Take the time to know what you need and what you would like. Makes looking through the hundred of things simpler. A good rule of thumb that i learned from another Christian blogger was to keep new items from low cost stores under $10 and used items under $5. Not easy you say.... everything i got today was under $5.

3. I decided on 15 complete outfits because i knew i had pieces at home that would work well and i knew that i can make each outfit into 3 very easily. By simply switching pieces out with others will easily make 45 outfits (if not more).

4. Now that i have lost weight, getting used clothes that i felt still kept me looking young was a lot easier now. You should always look at once size smaller and one size bigger (at the least). Just because it has a size tag doesn't mean that is the size that it is. Clothes can fit depending on cut and fabric. So do not limit yourself.

5. I always have a shirt under a shirt. I am way more comfortable layering and it is something that is easy to do. I wore a shirt that i could easily take off and try things on while looking through racks. I do not like going back and forth to fitting rooms nor do i like standing in a small confined space. Knowing that this shirt and others like it would be under the shirts i was looking for, this helped tons with sizing.

6. Switch your clothes around often. Take pictures of the different ways you can put something together. This will not only save you money but continuously give you a fresh looking style.

A Rant Within A Rant Within A Rant

So I mentioned something on my facebook (that by the way isn't showing up) about my feelings on the issue of the Pledge. I am a little upset that as a Christian mom I feel we are compromising are beliefs continuously and not equally being thought of when the government is trying to make all religions comfortable. I personally do not say the Pledge because i do not pledge allegiance to this country. NO I am not a communist and NO I do not hate this country. I Dont like what the government has done with it. For personal reasons I just dont say it. But I do stand up and face the flag out of respect for the freedoms it allows me, the life's lost to get those freedoms and those who are still fighting today for those freedoms. The flag is an important aspect of our country. One day my opinion might change on the pledge. But it is my FREEDOM to not say it.

So what bugs me? That schools are removing this from the class rooms. You might be saying that I should be happy right??? No ! Our children should be taught and should continuously learn respect for this country. Our children should know our history and be proud of it. All because of one line, "In God we trust" its being removed because it offends non believers. Guess what people the American money says the same thing!!! Are you going to stop using it too??

I am not one to push my beliefs on anyone. I love learning about what others believe in and sharing what I have learned. I love knowing about others cultures and how they differ from mine. I love that we can have these freedoms to believe or simply not to believe anything at all. But why is it that this country continuously strives to make every religion comfortable besides the Christian religion?! Why is it that anything we do is frowned upon? When this country in itself was founded on the Christian religion. My 7 year old daughter prays each day at lunch at her school. This is her choice to do so, not because we ask her to. It is said it is not allowed in schools because it has the potential to make someone uncomfortable at your table. Like I explained to my daughter, to bad. You should not compromise what you believe in just because someone else doesn't like it. As long as you aren't asking them to join you, or purposely try to make them uncomfortable, you do for yourself as you see fit.

The schools teach children to be receptive to all kinds of people but yet make it okay to teach one sided. The school system teaches evolution (another topic all in its own), which is fine if they were to equally teach creation. But they dont. Why? because again they dont want to make anyone feel uncomfortable nor push belief on someone. Yet they are by teaching only one side of a topic or belief. I am sure many people will disagree with me. Some I know personally. But each one of my friends and even family members can say clear across the board that I equally listen to what they have to say regardless of if I agree with them or not.

Its sad that we have come to a point in this country that we pretend to be tolerant of everyone and there beliefs. Its sad when we put so much effort to stifle free religion. That is exactly what is happening.

I will address another topic, because I know for some of you who read wonder where i stand on it because I am a Christian.

Gay Marriage. Honestly I dont care. I believe in equal rights for everyone no matter who you love. I do though believe Gay marriages should not be preformed in a church because the church follows the bible guidelines. There is no reason though two people in love; if to the same sex, a purple person or themselves can not be married. New york has found a good middle ground in showing equal rights and i am proud of them. The constitution calls for equality, something this country freely disregards. It does not force a church nor clergy member to preform something that they don't personally or through their beliefs believe in. So yes, I am Christian. Yes, I believe in the bible. Yes, I am strong in my beliefs. And yes, i am for equality!!! I will NEVER fault anyone for what they believe in and i will never push on you my beliefs. BUT I i also will not allow you to systematically take my beliefs from me!!

Worry Is A Sin

Yes you read that right, worry is a sin. Recently i have been taking part in a bible study all about worry. At first i questioned how this could be. As a mom i worry when my children fall off their bikes, or when i cant pay a bill. Sometimes i even let this worry over take me. I lose sleep or become cranky. I even, sometimes, start a tiff with my husband just because i want him to be in the same mood i am. Simply no fun. I am in week four of this study; i still have questions and i am still learning. I do have to say though it is nice to have a answer to how to walk away from all this cranky - not - so nice way of life.

Some people tend to worry over different subjects. Some people have what they like to call, concern. When you truly sit and look at whatever it is you call it, it is all worry. What i have learned so far is; worry is a sin, call a sin a sin. When you begin to worry give your problems to Christ. With Him your worries will be taken care of. You may not get your answer right away, you may not get an answer you like or you may not even get an answer at all. But you have taken it off your shoulders and given it to Him just as He has asked. Yes its just that simple! We are all made to have a heart of flesh and to have concern and love for one another. Its when we think we can fix it all and when we stress over the issues at hand that cause us to step away from our relationship with God and our loved ones.

Your worry is actually something else all together. Sit for minute and ask yourself what you really are worried about. Take each worry and see what the underlining fear is. Does your worry break down to a want for control, embarrassment, anxiety or even fear in itself? Sometimes i fret that my children wont do well in school. This has many underlining fears, but mainly embarrassment. What will others think of me, that i cant afford high learning. Remember to give it all to God. That is what i am trying to do each time i have a worry.

As strong women, moms and wife's we tend to put a mask on of happiness when we are struggling with something. Worries can very easily takes us from what we would really love to do with our time. Each time you sit with God in time of quiet, meditation or prayer you are strengthening your relationship with Him. When you give up your worries and your fears to God you make more time for your family. Its all apart of a life in our journey with Him to learn as we go. His word means something different to each person who reads it each time they read it. But what he ask of us is simply. We just have to choose to follow it. He never said it would be easy but he said He would be there for us.

A Faith Rebuilder

There are moments in life when your faith is tested. For each its a different test. I have been tested. I am a strong believer in jumping in full force and having faith in what ever you do, specially when it comes to your church family.

The past few months i have been playing a hide and seek game with the world. After an unloving experience with a church my family and i dove into, i felt a little beaten in the area of my faith. It pulled me away from my reading and from blogging. I felt a little defeated if i am going to be honest. It made me question fellowship and trust, the church in itself and Christianity all together. I found myself saying, "if this is all that it is about why bother".

These trying moments are when you are called closer to God. I felt a need to do a study, grab my bible and dive in strong into a friendship that was the reason i got baptized to begin with. I felt i was called to the beginning of my journey and to look at what brought me to it to being with. It was a lesson well needed to learn. Sometimes things will go the wrong way, forgiveness and love will be needed and you will have to take a deep breath.

After all is said and done i had to reopen my heart, take all the questions that piled up about my faith and Christianity and dive into finding my own answers. Finding a church for my family, getting in to the word and using God's word in my day to day life is what has been important me.

There will always be moments in life when you may question your faith and believes. When you may have doubt or disbelieve. These are the moments when you pull your strengths. Weather its through the word itself, great friendships or even your church. Dive into forgiving, understanding and eye opening experiences. Each one of us will face a hard time no matter the topic. Its in those hard moments when your strengths are needed the most.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." Matthew 6:14

My Baby Gone and Grew Up On Me

In between watching her grow, playing soccer, making friends and excelling in school I just couldn't be prouder!

I've been waiting to write this post till today even though I was going to on her birthday. Being that we are born in the same month and remembering the thoughts I had my first birthday after she was born I found it fitting to hold off till now.

When we all woke up extra early on April's birthday to get ready for her game, I had no clue the emotions I would go through!! We suited her up in her new uniform and having some family in town I thought it would be great to take a few pictures. I noticed she was a little taller and way more mature then I remember the day before. Of course I just thought that was me being mommy. That was until a parent shared this photo she took of her. So much older, so much taller so much... Not a baby.

I kinda felt the heart pains(the ones that don't really hurt but make you realize you baby is no longer a baby) and just gazed in amazement. How blessed I am to be a parent. To not only her but three other beautiful sanity suckers. It is in these moments that I become joyful, excited and know the true meaning of love. This is what being a parent is all about. You get to watch your child grow, learn and achieve !!!

Fair warning: i woke up at 3 in the morning with the need to write this so i could very easily ramble this whole thought out so please excuse my almost sure rambling post :)

So i haven't blogged in a little bit as i am sure you can see. I kind of got to the point where i felt like what i was blogging was more for the readers then for myself. So i stopped all together. Who would have thought that this little blog meant something to someone other then me. I know sometimes the life of a young mom to 4 children can be something exciting to someone else, that the things i learn and the things i share can be interesting. I mean i read many blogs similar to mine because i enjoy them. I didnt think my blog would be missed.

I shop at walmart at least once a day here in my town of Vegas. I strive to learn peoples names and ask how their day is going. Not something i do to be patted on the back but out of some respect for other humans. I was always brought up that you can get further in life with kindness and ignored with rudeness. I never expected it to be noticed though and it was. Kind words is what brought me back to blogging. I cant say that i will be fully in the mix with giveaways and such but the occasional post i am sure.

As i ramble away i will get back to walmart. Whenever i go into Walmart to return anything i get that same feeling/thought of, "i should just keep it because it will be easier then waiting in the forever never ending line" that everyone else gets. But there are a few people who make it easier and actually do there job with a smile. This makes it easier to stand in line with all the other grumpy people.

You every so often come across people that seem to go out there way to make things just a little more easier on you. Cat is one of those people. Every time i go in there is a hello and some kind of joke waiting for me. She takes the time to remember you name and to want to put a smile on your face. Cat is an interesting person. While she will always have a smile on her face to help serve you the best way she can and go out of her way to make you happy you can see many things in her eyes. I would like to say we have become friends and that could just be the vibe she puts off but ill stick with friends.

Cat took the time to get to know me. Some how it came to the point that i handed her one of my blogging cards so she could come check out this blog. She stopped by read it and liked it. Not surprising but very much welcomed. But i never expected for it to mean something to someone or for me or this blog to touch someone. She wrote about me and i never knew till i seen her recently. I got her blog address and stopped by to read. What a person she is. Interesting out looks and great honesty.

It was nice to know i made a difference and that my kindness is recognized. It is nice to know that i touched someone even if only one person. It is nice to know that even when i think i am being the worst person to other people that i am still giving off a smile and some kindness. It is nice to know that my words written here are heard that they touch someone. IT IS SIMPLY NICE.

So i just wanted to say to all of you. Keep trying to make a difference no matter how small you may think it may be. Try to always smile at someone even if they dont smile back. You never know what that smile might mean to them or their day. I enjoy my readers and the blogs that i read.

Books are a staple in my day to day life. I enjoy reading and writing them. Each person sees them in a different view. Some dont even read anymore or have stop reading actual books and have turned to an eReader. For me a good novel can make you disappear into a little world new and exciting with each story. Even yank at your heart or make you look over your shoulder with a good mystery or thriller.

Currently i am enthralled with many different types of books. Everything from romance (my quick read) to a suspense story. I enjoy the want of the next page and the need to know what will happen next. The feeling of knowing the characters as if they were my neighbors or someone who would stop in for tea. Reading is my way to relax to calm from a long day playing, cooking and hanging with my family. I spend many nights with out sleep because i just can not put a good story down.

What do you do to relax?? To end your day??? What interesting books could you recommend?? Never closed to a good recommendation.

Souper Salad .... and my long Weds

So as i have mentioned before my Hubs has school on weds nights. Making my day long!!!!!! These days they havent been to bad since he is home from work. But the nights are daddy time and the children dont want to give that up. I thought it would be nice to get them all out of the house and have a meal together at one of our favorite places. My children quickly cleaned up the toys and grabbed their sweaters and were ready to go in mere seconds after hearing about where we would be going.

Fast forward to pulling into the parking lot and looking for a spot close enough to the door (there wasnt any) so that it would be a little easier. I got all the children out and started my way across the parking lot to the restaurant and noticed one of the workers hurrying out. We will call him Mr. N. He waited for the cars to pass and came to help me walk my children across the little road. Then another worker, we will call her Mrs. P. was waiting at the door smiling calling the kids over to sit them at a table that was mind you already to go. The drinks for my kids and i were ready to go and they kept my children attentive while i gathered their food. By the time i came back the security lady, we will call her Ms. M. was sitting with the children making them laugh. Mr.N. was starting a quiet game for my children so that they would eat more then talk, Mrs. P. was asking each child how they were giving hugs.

Do i expect this service each time i go or at any other restaurant ?? NO ... But let me tell you i could never choose any where else. They made my long day fly by like it was the simplest part. As if having four children under 6 would be easy and that and being attentive all my own in public to each child is a cinch. I have to say i enjoyed my dinner having another adult sit and chat with me while my children i ate. Ms. M. stayed with us using her lunch time as a semi baby sitter when i need to take two to the restroom.

The whole point of this is that i am grateful. It made it so much easier on such a long day with out my hubs and a wonderful time with those i truly consider friends. If people tried at least half the amount of how they were with us.

The FAKE Housewife of .... a simple rant

So i am not a big tv person unless its a good classic or a fun family movie. But for some reason because all the hype surrounding them and the lack of anything else on the tube, i found my self watching a Real Housewife Of what ever reunion. I think i lost a hour or so of my life. One that i can get back. I found this to be a laugh and really sad all at the same time. Real Housewife my patootie. These shows all around the US in different cities depict such a non-realistic sense of a housewife.

The fact is i am a Real Housewife, i dont have a hair stylist nor makeup artist that comes each morning. From my understanding a housewife is one that keeps her own home, takes care of her own children and kind of has that soccer mom outlook. These women all have nannies when the show depicts most of them to be non working women. They have personal cooks and maids. I am still waiting to see the housewife in the show The Real Housewife.

I watched this caddy non realistic constant fight over he said she said childish crap. Women talking about what they are so proud of that they have left a legacy for their children. I am sorry, while i do not have a problem with Playboy nor those who pose for it, i have a large problem with a mother saying she did it to show her daughter "pure beauty" and that "this is what she can achieve". As a parent you want more for your children, posing nude shouldnt be one of them. Each person had me shaking my head in disbelief and the fact that so many people that i know enjoy this show leaves me speechless.

What to you is a Housewife? What to you do you think a mother should depict herself to be and teach her children? I personally dont think that this shows truly shows either and any answer any reader can come up with. Money plays a factor i know, but let me say i know "rich" mothers who still run there house hold, dont pose nude and think that it is a accomplishment to teach or strive for, and that dont indulge in constant drama.

So i am sure that i sound judgmental and rude. That i know that i dont know these women and that i could be totally off my rocker. But this is my opinion and i am tired of seeing shows depicting mothers, women and housewifes in such a caddy and so childish. I know i can turn off the tv and i know i dont have to watch this particular show. Yet i wish that those who make tv shows and those who come up with the ideas would think a little more first. Ratings are ratings right??

Reflections

Today was a cherry on the topping. I have been told a few times this statement and each time it has rubbed me the wrong way. This is the first time i am writing about it because this is the first time i don't feel attacked by it.

A friend of mine and i were having a conversation and these words came up in it, "then your less of a believer". The fact is no Christian has a place saying this because being disobedient does not cause you to be "less of a believer". I didnt feel judged nor attacked but it was something that was pulling on my heart to write about so that others wont say this. No i am not writing this to stop from talking to my friend about it because i know she will read it right here. I love her as much now as i did before the conversation.

Here are a few of the facts, we were speaking of ones signature sin and i brought up what i feel mine is. I know my faults and dont hide them. While what i believe is not what is asked of us as Christians i am entitled to my beliefs/opinions. It may make me disobedient and even stubborn but deff not "less of a Christian". I know at one time in my life and walk in Christ i will come to a fork in the road when i have to go one way or another. This for isnt that time. Doesnt mean its because i am "new in my walk" or that i am a "baby Christian" it simply means its not a realization for me at this moment. The point is we are all disobedient and are not what we should be as Christians but are striving to be each and everyday. Not being perfect or not agreeing with every last thing does not knock you down a notch on the Christian "belt". I dont earn a color or a high mark for doing something someone else feels fits me as a Christian. It doesnt give me lack of knowledge nor the since of being less then but simply the fact that i have not reached my truth yet.

I can still remember the feeling of the first time someone told me im "less a Christian" because of what i think. We spoke about the devil and i told her i dont give credence to him in my home. I dont teach my children of him nor do i blame things on him. This is because i feel that God is a higher power and the devil has no control in my life. You dont have to agree with me by any means..... but it doesnt warrant someone telling me, "take it back or your not a true Christian".

So to those who find themselves talking with a friend or someone in need pay attention to what you say. Being disobedient does not make someone "less of a Christian" or "new to theyre walk" or even a "baby Christian" . It simply means that the have more to learn and take from Jesus when they pray and when you pray for them. Because if you can say any of those to someone you may need to look in the mirror. Does your own disobedience in not going to church or not praying enough or opening your home to those who are in need or not being kind enough or respecting your spouse or even not having fellowship make you "less of a Christian"? ( all examples and not pointing at any of my readers) NO you are simply disobedient.

So now that i have shared this i leave you with this thought something that was given to me to read and study and i ask you do the same.because to each person it might mean something different.

Search me, o God, and know my hear; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting.
Psalms 139: 23-24

For me this let me know i am no where near "less then a Christian" because he will pull me near and he knows my heart. He knows what i am thinking because he has seen it before i even do it. With this i know that my disobedience will lead me somewhere on my journey. A journey that not necessarily is "new" but that is continual.

50's Housewife Experiment - Where have i been

Where have i been you maybe asking. Well my computer farted on me over the past few weeks and i had to have it fixed. But i have kept up with the experiment sort of ...

So having my hubs home makes me very lazy. With that said i have over the past few weeks built some habits and learned that i need to build some more. I have kept up with the laundry and my fly cleaning. Which over the years has been one of my down falls. I have learned to eat the right way... well three meals a day which has help to get me to a healthier weight. I have stayed on tack with my connect groups by attending and not making excuses. I have had someone over regular opening my home in hospitality which isnt easy for me.

With all of this i have learned that i am lacking in my goal. By no means do i want to be perfect but i do want to perfect a few things. I see that when it comes to cleaning it isnt something that is at the top of my list. Since my hubs is home most of the days now i have sat back with a good book and watch him do the nightly quick clean. Not something i want. I would rather him rest after his day of doing, what ever it maybe. I have noticed that my father and my hubs have taken over cooking saying i need a break. Which is great every so often but i have gotten comfortable. Did i mention while its all very yummy my menu planning has gone out the window. I have not homeschool in the past two weeks simply because the school room is not in order. Its easier to shut the door. So these are all things that i would like to get back to !

Some people live differently and may read this and think, why am i complaining. I know i am blessed with a supportive hubs which i cherish but if i am not doing my "todo" list around the house, going about my day to day life the way i have planned it out and sticking to what i want out of life.... what am i doing with my time? At the moment not much.

So with each day is a fresh start and a chance to start new. Today i am starting new. My hubs is at school and i plan to have a delicious meal waiting for him when he gets home. I will be spending quality time with my children and yes staying off of facebook for the rest of the day !!!! (what an addiction to have a 140 character status update)

A Time Without

So for almost this whole month i have not had my computer. It has had a few things wrong with it. Last night it became usable again. I have to say, Mommy Hood is totally different when you are without outlets. A lesson very much needed for me to learn.

I know when ever i sit down to blog or play a game on line that it is time i have set down for myself. Does it always mean i will get that time? fat chance. These past few weeks when i had something special i wanted to blog about or maybe post a review i found myself a little frustrated. ( i had face book on my ipod) Which in turn i would kinda of put off on my children. I had to take a step back. I had to ask myself if there was no internet what would i be doing with my own time?

So these past two to three weeks i have been reading more, something i stopped doing for some reason. I have done more with the children along the lines of projects and quality time. I have started to work out more. Who couldn't benefit right. But most of all i have taken the time to see what i was lacking. I see that i haven't taken enough time each day with each child. That i haven't taken enough time to sit and read scriptures like i like doing. That i haven't take enough time to keep my home the way i want to.

Mommy hood isnt something we can take a break from. Even when we have our time set aside, there time still means more. As i sit and type this up i hear one of my children whining to get out of the play pin because his sisters are driving him crazy. I hear my oldest two girls pretending to be nurses and of course there little brother is who they are working on. And my youngest daughter daughter well she is calm watching her favorite show. For me i could be right there with them pretending to be the patient they are working on or cuddled up with my little monkey on the couch. Even saving my son from what ever the two little princess have come up with.

Mommy hood. A never ending yet totally fantastic way to live.

50's Housewife Experiment - past few days

So the past few days have been a little more then i have expected in many ways. Having the hubs home for most of this challenge was not expected. Having guest in for a week at a time was not expected. Draining is a good word for it. While i am doing this to find my way to a much needed habit, its become more hard because of all the "help" im getting.

My hubs is the type of man who would rather have you sleep in (by turning off your alarm clock or not waking you because you seem tired) and do it all for you. Which is something he does often. No ladies i am not complaining but its hard to make a habit when there is nothing left for you to do.

Having a friend in town was draining in many ways. I had tons of fun and already miss her. This is someone i have known half my life. But in between spiritual conco, late nights out on the town and early mornings with my children i am super tired.

So what have i been doing these past few days that i could possibly still count as that 50's Housewife. I have intentionally planned, of course stayed on top( somewhat ) on my flylady which is cleaning for those of you who dont speak flybaby. I have attended my connect group and have stayed on top of my weight watchers. Ooo ya i started that too. I have cooked dinner each night something new and something different for my family. Some were big hits a few were a lose.

So i know that i have been lacking off but i am jumping back on the "i need to get moving" moving train.

Today:
Zone 2- cleaning (deep cleaning) my kitchen
Laundry - 4 loads washed dried and folded
Dinner - try a new recipe
Homeschool lesson - with all three of the younger ones
Still working to organize and clean the school room (which seems to be a never ending project by the way)

which i plan to get each and everyone done today. Today is my long day my hubs has school tonight so it will be a task. But i wont have anyone here to help me do it. :)

50's Housewife Experiment- Day 6

Today was very interesting. I woke up, got dressed from my head to my toes. I had a plan!! I woke up made my family their breakfast and sent April on her way to school. I knew i would be having a guest over for tea so i had to run my morning errands before i left. I set the children up with the morning lesson ( todays was your baby can read dvd1) and i did what i had to to get ready to go. The hubs tagged along to go shopping with me to get fabric for my craft of the day. I wanted to make an apron for me to use when cooking and washing up the dishes. I knew i wanted something very simple that i could throw in the washer if need be. No pockets no special lace just an apron. We found some wonderful clearance fabric and we headed off on our way.

Once i got home i took out my sewing machine and found that i was missing a part. I ran around town for about an hour or two and finally gave up letting my hubs find it for me. My guest would be coming soon and running around town would not be a good hostess now would it. I put the tea kettle on and made some finger sandwiches(which i forgot to take out when she got here) and when she arrived i poured some hot water and let her choose from an array of teas. We both chose Southern Peach and it was yummy. We drank our tea while talking over her weight watchers meeting. She asked for me to do it with her and since i am game to lose a few pounds i jumped on board.Having a warm cup of tea or maybe two while chatting with a friend is a a good start to my afternoon.

After wards we made a dash to the store so she could shop for her family. I picked up a few things as well as a copy of the weight watchers magazine. Once home i put away all of that was bought and set the hubs off to pick up April. I sat for my craft time and made my apron. I was happy to see that my hubs found the part i needed and i could jump right in. i was able to finish and even through in a second project too. It was fun to get back to that sort of crafting because i havent done it in so long. The finished project came close to what i wanted and i love that my hubs loved it. I knew i had to get cleaned up (things still have to be put away) because soccer practice was very soon. We headed out the door with time to spare.

At practice i was able to walk with a friend of mine for a brisk walk around the park. Which help me gain 2 extra points towards my total. It was a nice feeling being able to do a workout but in baby steps. I am not one to make my self want to cry. That will come later with the biggest loser work outs.After practice we came home and i got dinner started. I was playing hostess to a out town friend so it was a night out for the girls. Im sure that getting in so late wasnt smart but i will wake up early and finish my list from today and doing the last page of homework with my daughter.

50's Housewife Experiment- Day five

Today was a step in the right way. This morning i woke up later then i wanted. I havent seemed to grasp the wake before my children. Since we have had a movie night almost every night this past month and a guest in town, sleep is a if i can squeeze it in type of thing. Once i woke up i got my little one ready for school and myself since i would be helping one of the teachers. I stay for about an hour before heading home to homeschool the two middle children. Which was fun watching them each know something knew that i didnt know they grasped on to.

It was time for Lunch at this point which my hubs had sweetly made while i was teaching. The youngest two and i had an appointment that even though should have been 15 mins took almost 2 hours. Once i got home it seemed like most of my day was gone but wanting to stay in a positive mind frame on my long day (the hubs has school till late at night) i pushed forward. I accomplished almost all of my todo list today and began on tomorrows. i started dinner, something new and different and i enjoyed some game night fun time with my dad.

Today i was looking forward to going into my church to help them clean and undeck the halls from the holidays. Since i promised myself to give my father a break from being grandpa day care ( he doesnt know that i made this promise) i could not leave until they were asleep. Well they are still awake. In bed but yes still awake.

I know some people are reading these post and thinking that none of this sounds very 50ish. I decided not to jump into the whole thing at once but work my way through this whole month to make new habits. I dont want to do and finish this experiment just to say that i did it . I would love to implement it in my day to day life. Its a learning process for me, one that may turn out harder or easier then i think. But one worth doing !

P.S. I will now be listing my to do list for next day each day as a form of accountability. I hope to get to them all but i am realistic about this all.

Trying new food

So i have noticed that my menu over the past few months have contained just about the same meals over and over again. My goal for the next week of menu planning (which i will be doing tonight) will be to have at least four different meals on my menu. I am using my Christmas present from a friend of mine, a Sandra lee cook book and some online recipes. I hope to extend my familys choices to different and new food. I also want to take this time to bring my oldest into the kitchen and start teaching her the basics of cooking. I think that this would be fun for her.

My children usually dont have a hard time eating the meals i put in front of them. So i hope changing up the menu isnt more of a challenge then fun. If you know of a good recipe send it my way :)
